Rather than stay at the old standard, Berwick this year decided to take the leap and apply for the new, higher standard. Having been audited by the illustrious NQA, they were very pleased to achieve it at their first attempt. Not only that, they passed it with a 100% result and no carry forward ‘recommendations’.
Chris Thomas, Systems Consultant, who helped guide Berwick through the conversion to the new standard said the Berwick conversion was the easiest one he’s done so far and the first ever to come back with no recommendations.
Berwick General Manager, Carl Brassey, said this year’s audit was the most demanding thus far, with far more attention given to KPI’s and continuous improvement than previously. So it was particularly rewarding to get to the end and be told that not only had we passed but indeed, there we no recommendations.
Many ask what advantages certification to ISO 9001:2015 brings.
Certification to ISO 9001:2015 ensures Quality and Continuous Improvement are at the heart of the business ensuring that quality management is now completely integrated and aligned with Berwick business strategies.
It also ensures greater involvement in the management system by the leadership team to ensure the whole organization is motivated towards the organizations goals and objectives while reinforcing use of the management system as a governance tool, which helps us identify business opportunities that contribute to bottom line improvements.
And finally, with the new structure applicable to all new ISO management systems standards, it is now much easier to implement multiple, integrated management systems. So this successful certification is testament to the quality of the Berwick management systems and reassurance for customers knowing that such robust processes sit behind the business.
