This week is National Apprenticeship Week! National Apprenticeship Week is all about celebrating the many benefits, values, and opportunities apprenticeships have to offer; to both the individual and businesses as a whole. This week is the perfect opportunity to shed light on all of our current apprentices who are doing an absolutely smashing job!

So this year, we wanted to give a huge shoutout to our first ever Young Apprentice, Lewis Evason. At Berwick, we love to see individuals grow and thrive in the workplace, which is exactly what this week is about! Below is a few words from our Warehouse Manager, Stuart Watson, about how Lewis has been getting on over the past few months with us!

“Lewis joined the Warehouse Team back in October 2023 as a Warehouse Apprentice. His goal is learning all aspects of warehouse functions. He started in ‘Goods In’ and has gained full knowledge of the ‘Goods In’ process and WMS (Warehouse Management System), and he has implemented some improvements on how better to condense stock to maximise storage space. He has now moved on to learning the picking process and is one of the most productive staff I have, hitting some high scores on the quantity of picks he can do. He has gained knowledge on products we sell, the processes which are used, and the skills needed for loading the vehicles which deliver our goods to the customer. On top of these skills and achievements, he has also gained life skills with dealing with customers, colleagues, and peers. He has become an integral part of my team but more so a nice young man who goes out of his way to help and support anybody who needs it. He is respectful and polite but also down to earth and funny. He is well liked by all the staff, from drivers to warehouse to office, and I am extremely proud that he works at Berwick Care.”

From all of the team at Berwick, well done Lewis!
